Yes, the offer their entire menu, "TO-GO" - You might ask for EXTRA Red Sauce as they'll give you a nice size bag of fresh warm tortilla chips with every to go order!
Very good service, good food. Traditional dishes.
Not a 4.7 star, not a 4. More like 4.2 due to expensive prices & some dishes. The owner is a millionaire. Beef fajita is good, especially on the nachos. Queso is one of the best in TX.
Check the price if you order over the phone.Beef fajita enchiladas were $10.95 online and $12.95 in person. $14.95 total after tax and an unknowingly purchased bag of chips. My beef fajita enchilada plate was $8.50 when I ordered it and $8.50 when I paid for it. (3 enchiladas instead of 2 for mine by the way) But that's because I ordered it down the street at the Cancun. This happened 1/9/20 and maybe it really was the 1st time they ever heard about the problem. Time will tell, but I doubt it will be telling me...
This place is a houston staple. Been in the spring branch area for many years. They never disappoint.
One of my favorite local Mexican restaurants! Great authentic food and affordable prices! Love this place
Excellent Customer Service, good ground beef nachos, and EXCELLENT MARGARITAS! I will definitely return! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Good value and real food without fanfare
I ate the nacho George Torres regular sized it field me up if I would have got the larger size than I know I would have had some to take home. The waiters the staff the owners was all friendly came over and talk with you service was a A+ and this was my first time eating there. I went with some friends who loves this place. Usually I would take a picture of the food that I eat but this time I taste the food before I take a picture and the food was so good I kept on eating but next time I go I definitely will take a picture.
Good food at a good price. Friendly staff. It's like eating with family.
Best Tex-Mex in my neighborhood. Their beef fajitas are a must! Service is fast and friendly. Highly recommend!
Local Tex Mex served by some of the most friendliest, kindest folks. Waitstaff is always doing a great job here. The food is tasty, you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The queso here is a must order.
If you grew up in a Mexican household stay away from this kind of food ☠️☠️
Delicious food! Loved the taco soup. And great friendly service.
Food was really good, for being the first time trying this pleace
Nothing fancy just good hearty Tex Mex.
We L💕Ve this family owned restaurant; I was in diapers eating at this Amazing, gathering place !! They have fed our family for generations to come !! My son & I obtained our ' FAv... yest. The taste did Not change & the staff remembered me, like if I had not been away at ALL ! Again, we give them ☆☆☆☆☆ !!!
One of my all time favorites great people good food very home town
Best service in town. Your tea or water glass will never get empty. Also the crispiest chips ever. Great Tex-Mex food ; nothing fancy but real comfort food. Been eating there for 48 years and it's as good now as ever.
My family loves going here! If you go before 4pm, you can still order off of the lunch special menu! Trust me, the lunch specials are full size meals designed to fill you up. I got a chicken fajita taco, ground beef taco, cheese puff, beans, and rice for only $8.95!! 2 plates of food y'all! Happy Eating!! 😁
My family and I have been eating here for years and they always serve the best Mexican food. Their service is fast and they are attentive to your needs. I always go back! I forgot to mention that that El Gallo is a clean and comfortable place to eat.
The prices are alittle higher then what you can get but the quality of the meal makes up for the prices. The service and meal was all above my expectations.
I have been going to this location since 1972 the food has been great. Service 5 star. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars is the place needs a big big make over. It's not real clean.
Established in 1971, El Gallo Mexican Restaurant is a family owned and operated, down to earth restaurant in the Spring Branch area of west Houston. It's not fancy, but the food is decent and the service is good. Portion sizes are large, and the menu is standard Tex-Mex fare. It is remarkable for a family owned restaurant of this type to last nearly 50 years, but El Gallo is an old community landmark, worth patronizing if for no other reason than to support a place of such history and character!
Great food good service
My favorite go to Tex Mex Restaurant. We drive from Katy to come here. I love the hot sauce! Tacos Al Carbon are excellent. Best Queso ever.😀
Great place for Texmex. Good food, good prices, and even when it's busy there's rarely a wait longer than 5 minutes.
Been coming here since I was a kid and it still is the best dam Mexican food in houston. Not to mention best dam customer service in the industry. Ernesto the manager is a extraordinary human being, and will certainly remember you and take special care of you.Thank you
Been eating thier for 35 years always the same good texmex
Love this place. Found it just a year ago. But the quality of tex-mex is off the chain. Salsa! And more salsa please! Love the attention to the patron. The humble atmosphere and subtle spice that embraces its heritage. Looking forward to partaking in every menu item at least once 😉
We have been frequenting this restaurant for years now, food is consistently very good and staff are always very friendly. Highly recommend!
A blast from my past! As a little kid, my Grandparents would take me here and I loved it! I believe I still do, the chicken tacos were really good.
This restaurant was okay, The flavors we're not as good as other Mexican restaurants in the area and the food was too salty too. The employees were nice but would not be back sorry to say.
Awsome
Yummy food. Great service.
I love the decor of this place; it's casual and friendly and the tilework, in particular, is beautiful. Service is courteous, helpful, and attentive. The food is perfectly adequate, and if this was the only Mexican restaurant I had nearby I would be quite happy. But it's not - just up the road is Chavez, and it beats El Gallo on nearly every count. If El Gallo is your place, go for it! I'm sure it's many people's favourite and it certainly seems full most days when we pass. But we're going to continue passing, and go on up the road to Chavez :)
This place is great. Definitely a Houston staple.
Really good food at a reasonable price. Waiters are great at refilling water and chips, and check often to see if you want anything else.
El Gallo is an exquisite restaurant, with great quality of delicious food. You truly do receive an abundance of mouth watering delights for your money. El Gallo has aged well and most importantly they have never forgotten their core values. Their employees are friendly and never neglectful in keeping ones drinks full and more importantly the chips and salsa equally full!!!!! I am looking forward to returning to eating in the restaurant once more, until then though I will dine out and take my orders home.
Always love eating at El Gallo. Our favorite is their tacos al cabone.
Great food, fast service and very friendly staff. Made to feel like a regular customer. We would eat here much often if it were closer to home
This was the first choice for our "Sister Day" (an adventure my sisters and I have a couple of times a year) lunch y'day. We were heartbroken, because we'd has El Gallo on the brain for a while. It takes us back to a time when all 3 of us were still in school and lived at home. El Gallo is a wonderful place with good food and very attentive service. Maybe since we were thwarted this time, we'll have a do-over of this Sister Day! For old-school, FAMILY Mexican fare, I VERY highly recommend this restaurant.
I've always loved this place and then today went for a lunch taco salad and soup which was not all that great. A very small amount of meat (2 pieces) and lots of lettuce. The salad itself tasted as if it was not fresh and you could tell was from a bagged mix! The soup had one piece of chicken in it but broth was tasty. The cheese was already melted and balled up in the soup and broth all over the under plate. I was charged $10.50 for what the menu says is $9.50. The guy at the counter told me it was because I was given beef in place of chicken. But my actually charge amount was $14.50, with a tea. So you mean to tell me you charge $4.00 for iced tea? I was told that that's what the ticket says. Just feel this meal was way over priced and they didn't care!
Great food. Prices keep going up. Lunch is a good value
Just a really solid neighborhood restaurant. House salsa has been around for a long time, but it could do with a makeover to add some spice and do away with the sweetness. Good food, good prices.
Had lunch here and wasn't in the mood for something heavy. Chose the chicken tortilla soup bowl and a chalupa. My soup was wonderful and chalupa was nice completion. I was in a group of 8 and everyone had good things to say. Cost including tip was right @ 10$. I will return.
Food was good and the service was fantastic! It’s nice to see a place that has been open for so long and still doing great!
Love El Gallo. We have been going there as long as it has been open. Management and waiters are professional but also very personable. They call people by name and if a regular customer can almost write down the order before you say it. My families favorite place to eat! By the way, food is excellent!
Miss the old timers and previous management. Less friendly
Food wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t good. Everything was bland and pretty boring overall. The staff is very friendly and attentive though.
